Position Description

Agile Coach

  • In order to sustain our agile transformation, we want to develop internal agile coaching capabilities within the organization. The Agile Coach will be a key member of the Transformation organization with a focus in Product Delivery, Delivery Process and Delivery Workflow tooling The intention of the role going forward would be to help teams learn new skills, continuously improve, and make the transition to a new way of working.

Specifically, Agile Coaches will:

  • Be a servant leader, clearing impediments and making teams successful

  • Coach Product Management on Product Decomposition

  • Coach Product Management on Feature Discovery and Documentation

  • Coach Product Owners on Feature Planning and Detail

  • Coach Release Management on Capacity, allocation and release planning

  • Facilitate Product Increment Planning

  • Facilitate Product Meetings

o Product Council

  • Status

  • Issues/Risks/Impediments

o Feature Demo

  • Coach ScrumMasters

  • Receive escalated Impediments and Remove/Assign

  • Facilitate Product Meetings

o Scrum of Scrums

  • Issues/Risks/Impediments

  • Create Team level Metrics

o Velocity Change

o Story Throughput

o Quality Issues

o Dropped Stories

  • Amount/Reason

o Impediments Resolved by Team

Qualities of a good Agile Coach include:

  • Good communication, collaboration, facilitation, and interaction skills

Minimum Job Qualifications:

  • 4-year degree from an accredited university or applicable work experience

  • 6+ years IT experience in infrastructure or software development

  • At least 2 years of experience guiding agile transformations as an internal/external coach at team level, project/portfolio and enterprise

  • Demonstrated experience in Agile Practices (Lean, Scrum, Kanban, SAFe etc.)

  • Experience improving or transforming a process, group, or organization and leveraging change management techniques to optimize delivery ­

  • Enterprise or Solution Architecture

  • Product/Software Development Lifecycle

  • Organizational Development Theory

  • Previous experience in a leadership role

  • CSC or equivalent experience desired

Considering the number of teams we will eventually have at each of the tiers in the model (Portfolio team, Core Product Teams, and Delivery Teams), it is entirely possible that we will have 30+ teams that will require on-going assessment, evaluation and coaching. Given that number of teams, we believe 3-4 full-time coaches will be required, and ideally we would have one at each of the ePay sites (Alpharetta, Dublin, Sunnyvale, Chennai) so associates have immediate access when needed.
