Responsibilities include management of asset protection and facilities activities. These activities include organizational safety, food safety, and process improvement in support of the organization’s mission, vision, and strategic goals. The successful candidate will report to the Chief Financial Officer and works as needed with all ACFB divisions. Position is responsible for ensuring that all organizational and food safety activities are conducted and compliant with all Feeding America and other industry standards. This position is also responsible for monitoring and reducing loss of product and equipment and facility damages due to preventable negligence or malfeasance.

Purposes, Responsibilities and Duties

  1. Provide organizational oversight for all ACFB food safety programs.

a. Sponsor Food Safety Team meetings to maintain effective working relationships withregulatory authorities, industry trade groups, and operational stakeholders.b. Ensure audits of ACFB food safety practices to evaluate performance and providefeedback to appropriate personnel and ensure food safety program compliance.c. Ensure monthly facility self-inspections are conducted and monitor findings to ensureoperational conditions and warehouse standards are maintained.d. Ensure that all actionable audit findings are prioritized and closed as operations allow.e. Provide oversight related to food safety training for all personnel with direct food safetyprogram responsibilities.f. Oversee the product recall process and thoroughly follow-up on all food safetycomplaints from all ACFB stakeholders.g. Ensure that all FDA, USDA, HACCP, and Food Defense standards are maintained anddocumented by Safety Coordinator.h. Oversee and monitor all AIB Food Safety Program performance and ensure compliance.

  1. Oversee all ACFB operational safety initiatives and ensure appropriate compliance with allregulatory agencies.

a. Promote a behavioral-based safety culture throughout all ACFB operations andactivities.b. Sponsor Safety Team meetings to maintain effective working relationships withregulatory authorities, industry trade groups, and operational stakeholders.c. Oversee development and implementation of safety programs, procedures, and policiesrelated to operational safety compliance.d. Ensure compliance with local, state, federal (OSHA) rules and regulations.e. Oversee delivery and tracking of training for all personnel on safety programresponsibilities and appropriate operational certifications.f. Ensure monthly facility self-inspections are conducted and monitor findings to ensureoperational conditions are appropriate to detect existing and potential accident andhealth hazardsg. Manage all powered industrial trucks and ensure powered industrial truck standards arefollowed.

  1. Oversee management and maintenance of Food Bank facilities.

a. Assess and recommend maintenance improvements, developing budgets and timelines.b. Manage monthly maintenance inspections and work order audits. Documentcorresponding reports and next steps.c. Monitor property safety inspections reports and follow-up as needed.d. Develop and supervise Predictive, Preventive and Corrective Maintenance Programsthroughout the facility (ies).e. Manage the development of the annual operating budget(s) for responsible properties.f. Manage updating and ongoing maintenance of records for all R&M, alterations andmodifications made to building systems (i.e. HVAC, EMS, plumbing, electrical, etc.).



  1. Education

a. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experienceb. Must have working knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Office, Outlook, PowerPoint)

  1. Required qualifications

a. Minimum ten (10) years’ experience in warehousing, distribution, food banking, ormanufacturing.b. Minimum five (5) years’ experience in management of industrial safety and foodsafety programs.c. Must have good interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills; ability tomulti-task, work on projects, use good judgment, work with and manage diversework groups that work in a fast-paced environment.d. Excellent customer service skills and orientation.

  1. Preferred qualifications

a. Expertise and/or certifications:

i. Certified Safety Professional (CSP)ii. OSHA complianceiii. First Aid/CPRiv. Worker’s Compensationv. Food Defense / Food Safety (FSMA, USDA standards, HACCP)vi. Industrial safety programsvii. Facility Management Professional or similar certification

b. Prior experience working with food banks, food pantries, feeding programs, orother community-based nonprofit organizations is preferred.c. Experience with American Institute of Baking (AIB) audits

Physical DemandsThis position works in a typical office setting. There may be extended periods of sitting,standing and/or bending; listening, talking and/or visual concentration; writing and/orcomputer use. This position would normally have routine opportunities to alter physicalposition or change eye focus. Lifting should not normally exceed 10 pounds. Light travel (4-5trips per year) may be required.
