Service Area Overview:
We recognize each patient’s journey to recovery is different and requires a special level of care. Our Medical/Surgical Unit at Northside Hospital provides acute and rehabilitative nursing care services to help our patients get back to their daily lives. The Med/Surg unit is characterized by a warm, friendly and caring atmosphere that stresses individual attention for all patients. This approach is reflected in outstanding patient satisfaction survey results. The unit also participates in nursing education by providing internships for students. We also support clinical internships for Patient Care Technicians. If you have the skills to contribute to our team, Northside is eager to talk to you!
Intravenous Therapy Nurses are responsible for inserting short peripheral catheters, monitoring all vascular access devices, including daily assessment, dressing change, maintaining all central lines, de-clotting all central lines and accessing and de-accessing implanted ports while adhering to professional requirements and recommended standards of practice of professional organizations such as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Infusion Nurses Society (INS) and Association of Vascular Access (AVA). Applies the nursing process to assess and care for adolescent and adult patients receiving infusion therapy. Provides care to minimize or alleviate symptoms associated with vascular access devices. The IV Nurse collaborates with other members of the healthcare team to achieve the goal of safe, effective and appropriate infusion therapy.
REQUIRED: 1. Licensed as a RN in the State of Georgia in good standing without limitations. 2. Minimum of 2 years full-time experience as a RN post Orientation or Residency training. 3. Certified in American Heart Association’s Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS). Other REQUIRED cardiopulmonary resuscitation certifications (ACLS, NALS, PALS, etc.) are unit specific. PREFERRED: Other preferred RN attributes are unit specific.
