Exide Technologies Manager, Pension & Retirement in Milton, Georgia
Overview
This individual will assist in design and administration of retirement benefits offered to all employees of the US and Canada in the organization, including 401(k) plans, frozen US pension plans and Canadian DC and DB plans. Provides leadership, guidance and support to plan participants regarding retirement issues. Oversees retirement and pension administration process. Analyze costing and funding models to provide competitive plans. Ensures current plans are up-to-date on all pertinent regulations.
Responsibilities
RESPONSIBILITIES / AUTHORITIES :
Contribute to overall strategy, direction and execution of retirement income plans
Keep abreast of regulatory and legal changes to the retirement benefits in the US and Canada and advise management of emerging trends and best practices
Assist in the design, compliance and administration of retirement income program for the US and Canada. Requires a deep understanding of all of Exide’s non-union and union pension plans in the US and Canada
Monitor the cost effectiveness of the existing plans and recommend required revisions to meet strategic benefit objectives
Builds strong relationships with internal clients and colleagues at all levels to develop and implement successful integrated retirement plans
Provide timely, accurate and responsive service to ensure client satisfaction
Manage workflow effectively to ensure all deadlines, including all required filings with government authorities, are met
Assist with the termination of the current Canadian DC and DB plans and the ensuing rollout of the replacement RRSP and DPSP plans
Provide support to 3rd party administrator of US 401k plans and multi-component defined benefit plan and the Canadian DC and DB Plans. Audit data reports from both DC and DB administrators, If there are any issues, they will need to be resolved quickly with an appropriate response. Audit participant loan data reports and employee and employer contribution files. Assist all field locations Human Resource Departments with issue or general questions regarding their 401k or DC asked by their employees.
Co-ordinate Qualified Domestic Relations Orders (QDRO) with Exide’s legal service and 3rd party administrator. Provide data to legal service
Provide research for inquiries from pension administrators. Clarify participant data for things such as service dates, termination dates, plan transfers, death benefits, etc. Research information on inquiries from callers who file a claim for a pension benefit from Exide and is not listed as having a benefit with Exide. Handle process of all disability retirement applications. Liaison for multiple outside entities who provide pension benefits for former Exide and GNB employees
Process US 401k & pension service and Canadian DC and DB provider’s invoices timely from appropriate pay source, pension trust, 401k trust or Exide accounts payable
Pull reports from ADP Global View payroll system for employee’s 401k contributions, loan re-pays and company safe harbor contribution. Prepare transmittal forms to Xerox; reconcile transmittals for contributions and loans with payroll and the administrator, ensure funding is processed on a timely basis and adheres to federal regulations, reconcile and prepare wire request to Exide Treasury Dept., for the weekly, bi-weekly and semi-monthly payrolls
Assist with annual audit of the defined benefit plans, 2 US 401k plans and the Canadian DC and DB plans. Provide supporting documents requested by auditors, participant files, and payments from Trust. Conduct calculation walk through of participant’s benefit; prepare confirmation request letters for selected groups. Work with auditors to answer and resolve all audit inquiries
Qualifications
7+ years of experience in retirement plan and pension plan administration
Bachelor’s degree
Extensive knowledge of ERISA and Internal Revenue Code and Regulations
Strong communication, interpersonal, analytical, and research abilities
Excellent Microsoft Excel and Word skills
Must be experienced in reading and interpreting plan documents
Proficient at managing third party administrations and consultants
Proven ability to build strong, collaborative working relationships with colleagues and internal customers
